Felix Auger-Aliassime v Pedro Martinez Head to Head
Auger-Aliassime and Martinez have never faced off in a competitive match before this.

Last year, Auger-Aliassime looked to be in red-hot form, having finally shown signs of realising the huge bundle of potential that he had come into the sport with.
With four titles in his kitty, Auger-Aliassime would have been hoping to take that next step forward in trying to make it count at the Masters 1000 and Grand Slam competitions.
Unfortunately for the Canadian, things haven’t gone to plan so far this season.
He has featured in five tournaments in 2023 and other than his fourth round appearance at the Australian Open, Auger-Aliassime hasn’t won three successive matches at any of them.
In Doha, he fell in the semifinal after getting a first round bye and things got worse in Dubai where Auger-Aliassime lost to Lorenzo Sonego in the second round.

Martinez Surprise for Huesler
Marc-Andrea Huesler had come into his first round match against the clay-court specialist and highly out-of-form Martinez as a 9/20 favourite. Martinez, however, produced his best performance of the season to come through and seal his third successive second round appearance at the Indian Wells Open.
Needing nearly two and a half hours in his opener, Martinez won 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-4 to advance.
What was interesting to see was Huesler slammed 16 aces to his opponent’s one, won 81% of his first serve points to Martinez’s 70% and won three breaks of serves to two from his opponent and yet was at the receiving end.
Where Martinez did succeed was winning 67% of the second serve points which also allowed him to come back from 0-2 down in the tie-breaker to win it 7-4.
Against Auger-Aliassime, however, the margin for error would be a lot lesser.

Not surprisingly, Auger-Aliassime is 1/10 to win this and 2/5 to do that in straight sets. Backing that and a quick entry into the third round for the Canadian.
