Karolina Pliskova v Veronika Kudermetova Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two and Kudermetova leads 2-1 on head to head.
Pliskova had won their first match on the clays of Stuttgart Open, followed by Kudermetova turning things around in Cincinnati and Ostrava in 2020.

Pliskova had come into this tournament on the back of a quarterfinal appearance at the Dubai Open where she had withdrawn because of a viral illness. A first round bye here was followed by her meeting with Anna Kalinskaya in the second, where she was a 3/5 favourite.
For most part of the first set though, Pliskova did not play like a favourite. Far from it. So poor was her serving that Pliskova lost her serve four times in a row, unable to hold a single game.
Things turned around drastically in the second set when Pliskova broke Kalinskaya three times to bagel her and level the proceedings.
And Pliskova didn’t let go of the advantage in the third either, taking a 2-0 lead first up. Four games later she broke Kalinskaya yet again and while she dropped her serve once, there was no looking back the next time she served for the match.
Pliskova will have to do a lot better against the world number 11 than she did in the first set here.

Kudermetova Blasts Blinkova Away
In a match lasting an hour and 22 minutes, Kudermetova pocketed a straight-set win over Anna Blinkova to register her first victory in nearly a month.
Kudermetova was a 6-3, 6-4 winner over her Russian countrywoman, having lost back to back matches in Doha and Dubai. While her defeat at the former tournament was par for the course, falling to Iga Swiatek, she would have been disappointed with her opening round defeat at the hands of Anhelina Kalinina at the latter.
Which is why the clinical nature of her win would have also pleased Kudermetova.
She faced four break-points in the match, saving them all while breaking Blinkova once in both sets.
Can Kudermetova now inch forward to the fourth round for the second season in running?

Kudermetova will be pleased with her effort in the second round and once she gets into that kind of a groove it is difficult to dislodge her. Will have to go with her to win this but could be a ripper of a contest.
