World No. 6 Cori Gauff, who is set to celebrate her 19th birthday on coming Monday, started strong in the tournament. The number six seed defeated Spain’s Cristina Bucsa 6-2, 6-4, thus moving up to 12-3 in 2023.
After winning the Auckland Classic in January, Gauff reached the fourth round in the Australian Open, the quarters in Doha, and the semis in Dubai. In addition, the American successfully defended her Qatar Open doubles crown with Jessica Pegula.
With remarkable form and confidence that have enabled her to outperform some of the most skilled players on tour, Coco appears poised to establish herself as one of the sport’s greats. Demonstrating remarkable consistency, she has achieved a quarterfinal result or better in all but four tournaments since her runner-up finish at the French Open.

Noskova Beats Anisimova
Finding herself on a similar trajectory as her upcoming opponent, Linda Noskova continued her winning run in the valley – this time with a 7-6(6), 6-3 win over Amanda Anisimova.
The win followed a similar result from her opening match with Irina-Camelia Begu, which also saw a first-set tiebreak.
Linda’s record now stands at 12-4, and much like Gauff, she too has had quite a season. 10 of those wins came during her excellent runs in Adelaide and Lyon, where she was a runner-up and quarterfinalist respectively. Most recently, she was in Linz where she lost to Alison Van Uytvanck in the first round.
Gauff v Noskova Prediction and Tip
Even though the two players are similarly aged, Gauff will start this match as the odds-on favourite. However, we would not completely dismiss Noskova’s chances here, she definitely has got the skill and momentum. Expect an action-packed affair.
