Aryna Sabalenka v Barbora Krejcikova Head to Head

It is 2-1 to Sabalenka, but she lost their last meeting on tour in Dubai a few weeks back 6-0, 6-7(2), 1-6.

Sabalenka Enjoying an Easy Campaign

Number two seed Aryna Sabalenka has hardly been tested in this year’s BNP Paribas Open. With a bye into round two, she first dismissed Evgeniya Rodia 6-2, 6-0 and later got a walkover into the round of 16 after Lesia Tsurenko withdrew from the competition.

The World No. 2 has never made it past this stage in the tournament – and given who her opponent is, it may very well remain this way.

At the same time, Sabalenka is coming off a season where she has been beaten just once – by Krejcikova herself – while winning the titles in the Australian Open and Adelaide International.

The reigning WTA Finals runner-up has been in imperious form for quite some time, further evidenced by the fact that she has dropped a set only thrice in 2023.

Krejcikova Survives Wang

Barbora Krejcikova reached the fourth round in Palm Springs after moving past China’s Xinyu Wang 6-2, 6-7(1), 6-2. She did squander three match points in the second set but found her rhythm quickly to prevent Wang from establishing dominance.

In the preceding match, the 27-year-old Czech had beaten Dayana Yastremska 6-1, 6-2.

Fresh off a title run in Dubai, where she defeated many big names like Iga Swiatek, Petra Kvitova, Daria Kasatkina, and Jessica Pegula, Krejcikova looks well-positioned to turn around her slow start. She has already moved up to the 16th spot in the rankings.

Boasting a rich doubles pedigree – including the recent Australian Open doubles with Katerina Siniakova – Barbora has plenty of high-profile wins to tap into for inspiration.

Krejcikova v Sabalenka Prediction and Tip

This match can go either way. Sabalenka is the odds-on favourite, but Krejcikova is more than capable of beating the Belarusian. It all comes down to how they fare on Tuesday. Expect many games.
