Jessica Pegula v Petra Kvitova Head to Head

Kvitova leads 3-1, beating Pegula as recently as the United Cup in January in straight sets.

Pegula Beats Potapova

Jessica Pegula found herself in another three-setter in Indian Wells, this time against the rising Russian star Anastasia Potapova.

The match lasted for a little over two hours and saw the American win 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 in a little over two hours. Pegula’s service game was not impressive throughout the match, but she made up for it with her superior top-tier experience. With Camila Giorgi, the match was much more one-sided ending in a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 win for the third seed.

Now ranked World No. 3, Pegula arrived for the tournament – where her best result before this was round two stints – with a record of 13-4. She has been absolutely consistent, supported by her title run in the United Cup, runner-up feat in Doha, and late-stage appearances in the Australian Open and WTA Dubai.

Kvitova Upsets Ostapenko

15th seed Petra Kvitova knocked out Jelena Ostapenko in the third round, beating her 0-6, 6-0, 6-4. It was a wild, rocky affair that saw plenty of breaks – which ultimately proved to be decisive. Kvitova converted six out of seven break points while Ostapenko could manage only five out of a possible 12.

Before this, the Czech had beaten Elizabeth Mandlik 6-1, 7-5 to commence her campaign in what is her 12th time at the BNP Paribas Open. Through the years, her best results stand at two quarterfinal appearances.

Looking at her 2023 season, the #15-ranked player has had a mixed spell. Kvitova’s noticeable performances include her third-round showing in Dubai last month, and a final-eight result in Adelaide.

The three-time Grand Slam finalist has had a bleak spell over the last couple of seasons but managed to stay afloat inside the top 20.

Pegula v Kvitova Prediction and Tip

Pegula is the odds-on favourite, but Kvitova should be optimistic about her prospects, given her pedigree and experience. She also holds the lead in the head-to-head tally, and that may come in handy when the two face off on Tuesday. Punters looking for value bets may want to consider backing the Czech, given that she is priced 7/4 to win this one.
