Taylor Fritz v Jannik Sinner Head to Head

They have played once before this and that match also came at the Indian Wells Open in 2021. Fritz had won that in straight sets.

Fritz Eases Past Fucsovics

Living up to the expectations, the defending champion and world number five Fritz made it past Marton Fucsovics easily to enter the quarterfinals.

In a match lasting an hour and 41 minutes, Fritz was a 6-4, 6-3 winner as he continued his march in a tournament he won last year. For most part of the match, Fritz held the upper hand but took his time to get the better of Fucsovics’ serve.

It was only in the 10th game of the opening set as Fucsovics served to stay in the set that Fritz found an opening and converted it, gobbling up the set.

He then raced off to a 3-0 lead in the second set and while Fucsovics came back to break Fritz in the seventh game, the American broke right back to re-take the initiative. Fritz served it out in the next game.

This follows wins over Ben Shelton and Sebastian Baez in the previous two matches, which now gives him an 18-4 win-loss record for the season.

Sinner Has No Trouble against Wawrinka

Stan Wawrinka had come into his fourth round match with a shock win over Holger Rune but any hopes of repeating that in his encounter against Sinner quickly dissipated.

Sinner wasted no time in running away with the first set and while Wawrinka did put up a brave front in the second, it did not result in anything substantial for the Swiss player. The Italian won 6-1, 6-4 in an hour and 39 minutes to march on.

What was interesting to note was Sinner faced a whopping nine break-points including five in the first set but found a way to overcome eight of them. In turn he broke Wawrinka four times including while being 2-0 down in the second set.

This follows victories over Richard Gasquet and Adrian Mannarino in rounds two and three for Sinner, who will now look to look the slower courts to his advantage.

Fritz v Sinner Prediction and Tip

The slow Indian Wells Open courts nullifies Fritz’s advantage and both players start off 10/11 favourite here. Expecting to see a keen tussle that goes the distance.
