Iga Swiatek v Elena Rybakina Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between these two and both have won one. Rybakina had won their most recent meeting which came at the Australian Open played earlier this year.

Swiatek Has No Problems against Cirstea

Sorana Cirstea was one of the surprise quarterfinalists in the tournament but one knew that against Swiatek she would have her work cut out.

And while Cirstea did ruffle a few feathers on the Swiatek serve, it did not bother the world number one too much as she raced away to a 6-2, 6-3 win in an hour and 23 minutes.

An early break of serve gave Swiatek a 2-0 lead but dropped serve the very next game. The Polish player overcame that surprise very quickly to carve out successive breaks and an easy winning of the opening set.

In the second again, Swiatek broke early and was 2-0 up. Only this time, she doubled her advantage with a second successive break and while she was broken back once, the world number one quickly wrapped up the encounter.

This follows straight-set wins for Swiatek over Claire, Bianca Andreescu and Emma Raducanu in the previous rounds as well. Can she avenge her Australian Open loss to Rybakina here?

Rybakina Stretched by Muchova

In a match lasting two hours and 48 minutes, Rybakina overcame a slow start to carve out a three-set win over Karolina Muchova.

Muchova served for the first set before losing it in a tie-breaker and while she came back to level the proceedings, Rybakina found a way to edge past her Czech opponent. The Wimbledon champion won 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-4 in a match where she missed 12 of the 14 break-points she got while dropping her own serve three times.

That it was a closely-fought match can be seen from the fact that Rybakina won 67 of the 104 points on serve (64.4%) as compared to Muchova’s 69 from 108, which was nearly 64% too.

Where Rybakina scored over Muchova was she won a few of those points at crucial junctures – like the opening set tie-breaker – and on serve in the deciding set after having broken her opponent once.

Rybakina had already sent Paula Badosa out. Can she make life as difficult for Swiatek here as she had at the Australian Open?

Swiatek v Rybakina Prediction and Tip

Swiatek is 1/4 to win this and we will have to tip that result here despite what happened at the Australian Open. Expect Swiatek to face a three-setter though.
