Barbora Krejcikova v Madison Keys Head to Head

It’s 1-0 to Keys; they last met in the 2022 Australian Open, where the American won in straight sets.

Krejcikova Beats Sasnovich

16th seed Barbora Krejcikova began her campaign in Miami with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Aliaksandra Sasnovich. With no doubles commitment in Miami (Katerina Siniakova retired from the competition), the Czech can focus all her efforts on the singles draw.

Interestingly, she had never made it past the second round in the tournament up until now, but then again, this is only her third time in Florida. However, the 27-year-old was a doubles runner-up back in 2018.

Now ranked World No. 13, Krejcikova is coming off a decent few weeks on tour. First, she won the Dubai Tennis Championships after beating the likes of Daria Kasatkina, Petra Kvitova, Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula, and lastly, the #1 Iga Swiatek.

She followed that with a fourth-round showing in the BNP Paribas Open. On the whole, her record is now 14-5 in 2023.

Keys Enjoying Home Advantage

Madison Keys, current World No. 21, has improved her year-to-date tally to 11-4 after dismissing Robin Montgomery 6-4, 6-4 in the opener.

It was a positive result for the 28-year-old, who retired from her opening match in Indian Wells against Sorana Cirstea, citing health concerns. Given how she fared against Montgomery, it may be safe to say that she is fit and fine.

Her year has also been quite eventful, namely in the form of a title run in the United Cup and a quarterfinal stint in Dubai, where she defeated Caroline Garcia and Victoria Azarenka.

Over the years in Miami, Keys has made it as far as the quarterfinal just once.

Krejcikova v Keys Prediction and Tip

This has all the makings of being a fierce contest. Both players are evenly matched and coming off a similar start to the year. Krejcikova will start as the odds-on favourite owing to her superior overall experience, but Keys is more than capable of negating that.
