Jannik Sinner v Emil Ruusuvuori Head to Head

There have been four previous meetings between these two players previously and Sinner has won every single one of them. Three of them came in hardcourt competitions and of those, two were in Miami.

Sinner Tames Rublev in Two

Sinner might have won just one tournament this season but he is nicely stacking up the wins. And quite a few of those have been against some of the top, better players in the world.

Like was the case in Rotterdam where he defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas. Or in Indian Wells where he overcame Taylor Fritz. And now, in Miami where he had no difficulties breezing past Andrey Rublev.

Sinner overcame Rublev 6-2, 6-4 in an hour and 12 minutes, facing not a single break-point in the encounter. He won 24 of his 28 points on his first serve, and 73% of the points on Rublev’s second serve (which was lesser than the percentage of points he won on his own!).

After having been broken twice in the first set, Rublev did put up a fight till about midway in the second set but then dropped serve in the seventh game. That was all that Sinner needed to carve his win out.

The Italian number one had already defeated Laslo Djere and Grigor Dimitrov in the previous rounds.

Ruusuvuori Overturns Slow Start against van de Zandschulp

Ruusuvuori had started out a favourite in his fourth round match against Botic van de Zandschulp but he surely didn’t start off like one.

The Finn did not earn a single break-point in the first set and was broken in the fifth game with his opponent losing a mere six points on serve. And when van de Zandschulp had gone 3-1 up in the second set as well with an early break of serve, the writing looked to be on the wall.

It was around that time that Ruusuvuori fought back to level things out at 3-3, dropped his serve again in the seventh game only to break his opponent two more times to level the proceedings.

Ruusuvuori carried the momentum forward into the third and surged 2-0 ahead, served for the match at 5-3 but only dropped his serve in the ninth game. Two holds later, as van de Zandschulp served to stay in the match, Ruusuvuori broke him to love to enter the last eight.

This will be Ruusuvuori’s first ever appearance at the quarterfinal stage of an ATP 1000 competition.

Sinner v Ruusuvuori Prediction and Tip

There shouldn’t be a lot of worries for Sinner here who can be expected to come through in two. Tempting games handicap odds with bet365 though.
