Kecmanovic isn’t one of those players who has a heavy preference for one type of surface over the other. And yet, he is yet to feature in a clay court competition this year having played in eight tournaments on hardcourt.
Unfortunately for the Serb, his record this season hasn’t quite been something to behold.
On the ATP Tour, Kecmanovic has won seven of the 15 matches he has been a part of and this includes a four match streak coming into this tournament in which he won just one match.
The world number 35 did make it to the final of the Delray Beach before that, but given his other performances this season, it would be interesting to see how quickly he adapts to the clay court swing leading up to the French Open.

Nardi Back to His Favourite Surface
Having struggled through most part of the season even at the Challenger level, Nardi would be glad to have returned to the surface he has done well on in the past.
Sure he did make it to the final at the Pune Challenger early in March but his results otherwise have been underwhelming.
Last week, Nardi shifted over to make an appearance on clay in a Challenger tournament but the result didn’t go his way there either. At the San Remo Challenger, Nardi was beaten in straight sets by Gianluca Mager.
The 19-year-old Nardi, whose overall career record on clay – which comprises of Futures and Challengers results – is a solid 45-33, will hope he can kick on from there. He does have a way higher-ranked opponent against him but the exuberance of youth might help.

Kecmanovic should start a favourite if he can get his steady play going with Nardi’s form not quite helping him. Might see a third set though.
