Aleksandar Kovacevic v Gijs Brouwer Head to Head

Although the pair have never played each other on the main tour before, they did meet on the Challenger circuit in Illinois in 2021 on outdoor hard courts, Brouwer winning in three sets.

Breakthrough Season for Kovacevic

Kovacevic has been enjoying something of a breakthrough season so far this year.

Six months after reaching his first Challenger final, where he finished on the losing side, he reached his second in Cleveland in January, and this time he got to lift the trophy.

And, the following month in Waco, he claimed a second title, defeating the Frenchman Alexandre Muller in the final.

That was enough to earn him a wildcard into Indian Wells, although he then lost in the first round to compatriot Marcos Giron.

After a quarter-final run in the qualifier event in Phoenix, he entered qualifying in Miami, and, although he was beaten in the second round of that competition, he got a reprieve into the main draw as a Lucky Loser.

He would go on to win his first ever Masters’ match, beating Jaume Munar of Spain, before losing to Francisco Cerundulo in straight sets.

Rotterdam Quarter-Finalist Brouwer

Like his opponent, Brouwer has also had a season to remember so far, having moved up nearly 40 places in the world rankings since the start of the year.

That was helped by his performances in Rotterdam, where he recorded a win over top 50 player Marc-Andrea Huesler in the first round, and then beat Holger Rune, via a retirement, for the biggest win of his career so far.

He went on to reach his first ATP quarter-final.

The following week he successfully navigated qualifying in Marseille, and reached the second round there, eventually losing to Grigor Dimitrov.

However, his attempt to qualify for Miami ended in first round failure, beaten in straight sets by Benoît Paire of France.

Kovacevic v Brouwer Prediction and Tip

Whilst both men are enjoying good seasons so far, Kovacevic has the advantage of playing in front of an American crowd, and he will be hopeful of continuing his recent progress.
