Alize Cornet v Fiona Crawley Head to Head

It has not been a picture-perfect campaign for Alize Cornet in 2023. The 33-year-old is 1-6 so far, with her last tournament being the Indian Wells Open (loss to Evgeniya Rodina in straight sets).
That was her fifth-consecutive loss on the WTA Tour, with the others coming in Hobart, Melbourne, Lyon, and Dubai.
Keeping aside this rut, Cornet is vastly experienced and is years ahead of Crawley. She has been competing in professional tennis since 2005 and has 15 WTA finals to her name. Alize may not have had a star-studded career like many others, but she is not to be trifled with.
That said, Cornet’s involvement in clay tournaments over the years has dwindled. In the last five years, there have been only two times where she has bagged more than five wins.

Crawley Making her Tour Debut
Fiona Crawley, age 21, is a player of whom not many people would have heard. She can, however, change that this week – but it is going to be a tough job.
The American has participated in only one professional tournament in the last couple of years – a Challenger event which coincidentally took place in Charleston in 2021. She lost that one to Maddison Inglis in straight sets.
On the qualifiers or junior circuit, Crawley did not enjoy much success either, with a few appearances in ITF events.
So, from being virtually absent from the tour to making her WTA debut against one of the most experienced stars, Fiona faces quite a test on Monday.
Cornet v Crawley Prediction and Tip
If Cornet loses this one, it would be one of the biggest upsets of the season. Granted that the #66 is not in the best form, but even for her, she should be able to handle a player as inexperienced as Crawley with ease.
