Tallon Griekspoor v Elias Ymer Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between these two and Griekspoor has won both – one at the Challengers and another in the 2019 US Open.

Griekspoor Hoping to Bring 2022 Clay Form to Marrakesh

Griekspoor hadn’t made the best of beginnings on clay last season and his overall record on red dirt is 7-8 but what he did do was to feature in the Challenger clay court competitions and carve out a few wins.

He ended up winning a Challenger tournament on clay in 2022 too, giving him that hopes of a turnaround at the highest level too.

The Dutchman has had a good start to this year, as he went on to claim his maiden ATP tournament victory in Pune earlier this season. He followed it up with a third round showing at the Australian Open and a semifinal appearance in Rotterdam.

The transition to clay might not be the easiest, especially given he had lost in the first round here last season but Griekspoor will be slightly more confident this year.

Ymer Struggles Past Moundir

Adam Moundir is ranked 720th in the world but playing at home, he looked to have brought out an exhilarating game against the 1/8 favourite Ymer in their first round encounter in Marrakesh.

In the end, Ymer managed the win and in straight sets too but not before he was needed to be on court for an hour and 38 minutes. He was also needed to save a set-point in the second set tie-breaker before winning 6-4, 7-6 (6).

Ymer had himself earlier made it to the main draw with a couple of very stiff qualifying wins in what is his first tournament on clay for the season. The Swede had never even made the main draw of this competition before this, twice losing in the qualifiers.

Can he now put up a fight against Griekspoor?

Griekspoor v Ymer Prediction and Tip

While Griekspoor is 3/10 to win this we reckon Ymer’s fighting spirit will see this match go long enough to trouble the Dutchman.
