Casper Ruud v Miomir Kecmanovic Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between these two, one in the main draw of an ATP event in 2019 and another in the qualifiers of the 2019 Rome Masters. Kecmanovic won at the former when Ruud retired after the first set but the world number five had won that qualifier on clay.

They also faced off in the Next Gen Finals that year which Kecmanovic won.

Ruud Made to Stretch by Halys

It was a case of survival of the fittest as Ruud edged past Quentin Halys in their semifinal match. Ruud needed a final set tie-breaker and two hours and seven minutes to get past Halys and enter his first final of the season.

Having eased past Sebastian Baez in the previous round, it seemed like the Norwegian player had found his mojo and a break in the very first game of the opening set was all he needed to firm up that belief.

Out of nowhere, however, Ruud was broken in the fourth game of the second. He faced another break-point but did not come close to breaking his opponent who served to love to level the encounter.

Both players had their issues with their serves at different points in the decider but there was no break. Ruud stormed away to a 3-0 lead in the tie-breaker before pocketing it 7-2 to squeak his way to the final.

Kecmanovic Eases Past Cecchinato

It’s been a kind of week for Kecmanovic that most players would welcome with open arms. He will now look to close it out to win his second ATP singles title after registering his fourth successive straight-set win in the competition.

At the other end this time was Marco Cecchinato, who himself had exhibited good form to get to the last four.

But against a player in the kind of form that Kecmanovic is, Cecchinato fell away in a mere 69 minutes in their semifinal. Kecmanovic won 6-3, 6-1 on the back of four breaks of serves while himself saving both the break-points he faced in the encounter.

Kecmanovic had earlier gotten past Luca Nardi, Jurij Rodionov and Bernabe Zapata Miralles, losing just 13 games across those three matches.

Ruud v Kecmanovic Prediction and Tip

Ruud’s form has been scratchy but the important bit is he has found a way to win and reach the final. On the other hand Kecmanovic has been solid all through the tournament and that gives him bit of an edge. We could see a thrilling final that goes to a third set.
