Wild Card Entry For Rincon

Daniel Rincon got a wild card entry into the Barcelona Open in order to avoid having to play in the qualifiers. The 20-year-old hasn’t been playing badly lately though this is a new level for him. He’s a member of the Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy so clay comes quite naturally to him.

Even so, he only played six matches on the surface so far and the record is 3-3. Overall he’s 18-8 on the year with a decent amount of challenger action this year. At times he wins and at other times he losses. Like any youngster, he’s quite up and down.

Being a lefty is something he could use in the pros and he has a really decent forehand that can do a lot of damage on clay. It’s tough to predict what to expect from him because last week’s action in Madrid saw him lose to a player that is not even in the top 200.

Kubler is a solid player and one that will beat players he should beat generally so this is a really tough ask of the youngster.

Kubler’s First European Clay Match

Jason Kubler didn’t arrive in Europe after the Sunshine double opting to stay in the US and play the Houston event which plays quite a bit faster than European clay. He then stayed one more week there to play at the Sarasota challenger which is played on green clay instead of going to Monte-Carlo.

That makes this an interesting match for him because he’ll face a player who is from Spain and who has played more on European clay this year than he did. Will it be a problem ? I don’t think so because Kubler can play on clay. He posted a 20-5 record on the surface last year and he’s 250-104 all-time on the surface.

He will take some time to adjust but I’m not sure he will struggle enough for Rincon to defeat it. The youngster is very raw and he can beat good players but most of his matchups with good players this year who are used to the ATP level ended in defeats.

I expect the Aussie to continue a solid level and build upon his 13-8 record so far this year.

Rincon v Kubler Prediction and Tip

Daniel Rincon is a solid player but I don’t think he has what it takes to beat Kubler here. I might be wrong but anything but a win by the Aussie would be a major surprise to me.
