Beatriz Haddad Maia v Martina Trevisan Head to Head

Maia leads 2-1, beating Trevisan most recently in the 2023 United Cup 6-2, 6-0.

Trevisan Coming off a Good Run

Martina Trevisan, current World No. 20, silenced her critics in style by making it to the quarterfinal in Miami most recently. That was her first such run since making it to the final of the United Cup back in January.

With a bye into round two, she defeated Nao Hibino, Claire Liu, and Jelena Ostapenko before bowing out to Elena Rybakina.

Now, the Italian will play in her element as she starts the clay swing this week- with a mediocre record of 6-9.

Historically, the 29-year-old has done well on this surface, having won her maiden WTA title in Rabat last year – followed by a semifinal stint in Roland Garros. With that, Trevisan also has 17 ITF finals and a Challenger runner-up trophy. All in all, she should be confident of her prospects when she goes up against Maia.

Maia Set to Start Strong

Beatriz Haddad Maia has had a comparatively better start to the season, seeing she is 12-8. Her best result came in Abu Dhabi, where she reached the semis. In addition, the Brazilian was a quarterfinalist in Doha and Adelaide.

What has made her an exceptional player, now ranked #14, is her ability to consistently excel on all courts. She ended last season at 51-23 with at least 12 wins across all three surfaces.

Maia won the titles in WTA Nottingham and Birmingham, and Saint-Malo Challenger, and was a finalist in WTA 125 Paris and the Canadian Masters.

During her journey, Beatriz ended up beating many big names like Iga Swiatek, Maria Sakkari, Daria Kasatkina, Paula Badosa, and Rybakina.

Maia v Trevisan Prediction and Tip

Maia will start this match as the odds-on favourite – not by a huge margin. Trevisan may have a seemingly sloppy record, but clay is where she is at her best and that gives her enough ammunition to hold her own.

We may be looking at a three-setter here.
