Pavel Kotov v Oleksii Krutykh Head to Head

Their only previous meeting came in the qualifiers of the ATP Doha competition earlier this season and Krutykh had won it in three.

Kotov Qualifies with Successive Three-Set Wins

A switch over to clay is all that it needed for Kotov to get moving and winning. In the eight tournaments he had played to begin the season with, all of which came on hardcourt surfaces, Kotov had won just one main draw match.

This included three first round defeats on the Challenger circuit.

In the three clay court competitions that have followed, Kotov has already made the semifinal in Marrkaesh with wins over Pedro Martinez, Benjamin Bonzi and Christopher O’Connell and entered the main draw here.

Kotov overcame the 196th-ranked Matteo Gigante in the opening qualifier before getting past Benoit Paire in the second.

While he had lost in his previous meeting with Krutykh, Kotov will be better-placed here on clay.

Krutykh Also Makes it Through the Qualifiers

Yet to win a main draw match this season, Krutykh will now make his career clay-court debut following a couple of qualifying wins. He will feature in his first match on this surface after carving out wins over Miljan Zekic and Hugo Grenier in the qualifiers.

This follows an early qualifying defeat at the Estoril Open two weeks ago.

A closer look at his record in the lower Challenger and ITF circuit reveals his fondness for clay too. In 2022 itself, Krutykh had won three of his four career titles and all of them had come on clay.

This included victories on the Challenger circuit, winning a couple of those titles at Prague and Valencie.

Can he continue to improve and make things difficult for Kotov?

Kotov v Krutykh Prediction and Tip

Kotov can be expected to have his revenge but on clay, Krutykh has had a good time too. Expect a three-setter here.
