Federico Coria v Radu Albot Head to Head

The pair have played each other twice before, both matches taking place in 2021.

Coria won on the main tour in Melbourne, whilst Albot emerged victorious on the Challenger tour in St. Petersburg. Both matches were on hard courts.

Coria Has Not Won Since Cordoba

Coria is something of a late bloomer. It took him until 2021 to reach his first ATP final in Sweden, and two months ago, at the age of 31, he got to his second, on home soil in Cordoba, although he once again had to content himself with the runners-up spot, compatriot Sebastian Baez claiming the major spoils.

He did, though, claim victory in a Challenger event in Chile in January, his fifth at that level, all of them on clay.

That tournament in Cordoba was the last time that he won a match, though.

He was beaten in the first round in Buenos Aires, and, both his stays in the American Masters’ events proved to be brief ones – he was well beaten in the first round in Indian Wells and then Miami.

The Argentine has not played since Florida, so he should be fresh coming into this tournament.

Delray Beach Semi-Finalist Albot

Albot made history when he became the first Moldovan to win a senior title in Delray Beach in 2019.

Four years on and he is yet to repeat that feat, although he has been successful 17 times on the Challenger tour, his most recent victory coming in Istanbul last September.

It was perhaps appropriate that his best result of the year so far came back in Delray Beach, where he reached the semi-finals before losing to the Serb Miomir Kecmanovic.

A string of early defeats followed that, and he was forced to enter the qualifying competition in Bosnia.

He brushed aside the challenge of the Bosnian Aldin Setkic in the first round of that, and then that of the Bulgarian Dimitar Kuzmanov, beating both men in straight sets.

Coria v Albot Prediction and Tip

Although Coria does not always perform well outside South America, he is the more established clay court player of the two, and he will be confident of reaching the second round.
