Lajovic in Decent Form on Clay

Knocked out in the first round of the Rome Masters by Nuno Borges, Dusan Lajovic will be hoping to put the setback behind him quickly and recapture the form that has earned him a lot of success, particularly on clay this season.

Lajovic has an overall season record of 19-12 and that includes a 17-8 run on clay.

Ranked no. 46th in the world, the Serb also picked up his second ATP title by beating Andrey Rublev in the final of the Srpska Open in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It was his first title since he won his maiden trophy in Umag in 2019. In addition to the two clay court titles he has also featured in a Masters 1000 clay court final, finishing runner-up in Monte-Carlo in 2019.

Lajovic has been in good touch this year, having also reached the quarterfinals in Buenos Aires, Rio and Santiago. This will be his second appearance in Geneva, six years after being knocked out in the first round. Can he start with a win?

Jarry Unable to Replicate South American Form on European Clay

2019 finalist Nicolas Jarry returns for the 2023 edition of the Geneva Open but not in the best of forms, having lost his last three matches.

Jarry, who was beaten by Alexander Zverev in the 2019 Geneva Open final, lost in the second round in Barcelona and followed that up with first round exits from Madrid and Rome.

He is 3-3 on European clay this year, but had an outstanding run on South American clay earlier in the season. Jarry won his second ATP title by defeating Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the Santiago final. It was his fourth career final and his first title since he won his maiden title at the Swedish Open in 2019.

Jarry had also made it to the semifinal of the Rio Open and thanks to those performances he has an overall record of 13-7 this year. On clay, the world no. 56 is 12-6 this season.
