Arthur Rinderknech v Lloyd Harris Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 27 year old Frenchman, and the South African, who is a year younger.

Rinderknech Struggling to Match Last Year’s Form

There was a period last year where Rinderknech’s star had risen so far that he was the number one ranked French tennis player.

That followed him reaching his first senior final in Adelaide, and a string of good performances in other tournaments.

Unfortunately for him, maintaining that level of performance has proved to be a real challenge in 2023.

Clay is not his best service as his record of four successive first round defeats at the French Open signifies.

Nor has his form on the surface been anything to write home about recently. He was well beaten in the second round of Rome by Casper Ruud, and his participation in the Bordeaux Challenger event was even briefer, losing his first match there.

Harris on Injury Comeback Trail

The South African number one, Harris has appeared in two senior ATP finals, finishing on the losing side each time in Adelaide in 2020, and in Dubai a year later.

Six months after that he reached his highest ever world ranking of 31, but he has since seen that drop dramatically after being forced to miss much of the 2022 season following surgery on a wrist injury.

He is slowly working his way back to fitness, mainly on the Challenger circuit.

Not known as a clay court specialist anyway, this is his first event of the year on the surface, but he has made the main draw after beating first Manuel Guinard of France in three sets, coming from behind to win.

He made comparatively shorter work of his second qualifying round opponent, Beibit Zhukayev of Kazakhstan, who he saw off in straight sets.

Rinderknech v Harris Prediction and Tip

Neither man is known for their exploits on clay. Rinderknech, though, has home advantage, and he will start favourite against a man still battling back after his injury lay-off.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip:  Rinderknech to win: 3/4
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 22.5 games in the match: 5/6
