Parks at Career-Best After Solid Madrid Showing

Parks was in a bit of a strife after having won the title at the Lyon Open earlier this season.

Having shocked Caroline Garcia in the final to lift the trophy against the run of play in that competition, Parks won just one of her following eight main draw matches at the highest level.

This included a couple of first round losses on the clay courts of Charleston and Stuttgart.

Fortunately for Parks, she was able to arrest that slide with stunning wins over Anna Karolina Schmiedlova and Victoria Azarenka in the first two rounds of the Madrid Open before Martina Trevisan got the better of her in the third.

Still that was enough for Parks to his a new career-best of 49th in the world.

Following that however, Parks has lost successive matches again – going down in the first round of the Italian Open and the WTA Paris. Her inconsistency will be a worry but it must be quickly added she is still in the very early days of her career at the highest level.

Tikhonova In Just Her Second Career WTA Tournament

It was only last year that Tikhonova made her WTA debut when she qualified for the Rosmalen Open on grass. Subsequently she suffered a first round loss and failed to make it to the main draw again in 2022.

This year had been no different for Tikhonova.

She had narrowly failed to make the main draw of the Australian Open and while she won an ITF title early in the season, the 22-year-old had failed to feature in the opening round of any WTA tournament.

All of that changed with her performances in the qualifiers here.

The Russian overcame Luca Udvardy and Valeriya Strakhova in the two qualifying rounds to make the main draw and will now be gunning for his maiden career win. Up against an erratically performing Parks, it might not be that off the mark to assume she has a chance.

Parks v Tikhonova Prediction and Tip

Parks is 1/2 to win this and while we reckon she will still the have arsenal to get past Tikhonova, it could turn out to be a fighting contest.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Parks to win: 1/2
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 5/6
