Sebastian Baez v Pedro Cachin Head to Head

The pair have played each other three times before, all om clay, and Baez winning on each occasion.

Two of those victories came on the junior tours, but he also won in Estoril last month in straight sets.

Baez Looking for Form Ahead of Paris

Baez is already a winner on the main tour this year, having picked up the title in Cordoba.

And he will be hoping to improve on his only previous visit to the French Open where he was beaten in the second round stage by playing himself into form ahead of Roland Garros.

Certainly he will need to improve on recent performances, having been beaten in the first round in Estoril, Monte Carlo and Munich, and the second round in both Madrid and Rome.

A foray onto the Challenger tour in Turin brought a change of fortune, but he would have been disappointed to lose there at the semi-final stage to Federico Gaia of Italy, the world number 231.

He was the recipient of a first round bye in Geneva..

Cachin Defeats French Wildcard Veteran

Cachin had the crowd to play against as much as his opponent in his first round match against the French veteran Gael Monfils, one of the most popular players on tour, who was given a wildcard into this event.

Certainly Monfils, currently ranked 386th in the world, started the better, taking the first set after back to back breaks of serve.

Cachin, though, weathered the storm, broke himself midway through the second set and was able to level the match.

And one break of serve in the third set put the Argentine in position to serve for the match. Monfils had two break back points, could not convert either, and his challenge was then ended by Cachin.

Baez v Cachin Prediction and Tip

Although Baez has been in poor form of late, he does have a 100% winning record against Cachin, and he will be confident of extending that further in Geneva.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Baez to win: 5/11
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 17/20
