Alycia Parks v Kamilla Rakhimova Head to Head

World no. 49 Alycia Parks ended a three-match losing streak by winning her opening round match in Rabat.
The fourth seed American held off a spirited challenge from Anastasia Tikhonova, beating the Russian 6-3, 7-6 (8-6). But it took an hour and 51 minutes for Parks to edge past the qualifier.
Twice the world no. 236 went up a break in the first set, but Parks came back on both the occasions and then won the last four games in a row to take the first set.
Parks began the second with a break but she soon found herself 2-4 down after the Russian got a double break. However, the American, 22, broke back to stay in the set. She saved two set points in the second set tiebreak, before converting her first match point and ending Tikhonova’s resistance.
Parks, who won the Lyon Open for her maiden WTA title earlier this year, is 11-12 overall and 4-6 on clay across levels this season. She is a decent clay court player and will be hoping to reach her second quarterfinal of the season with a win on Wednesday.

Kamila Rakhimova ousted local hope Malak El Allami in straight sets in the first round on Tuesday.
The world no. 85 took the first set with ease after getting the solitary break early in the set. She, however, faced some tough resistance from the wild card in the second set, having to come back from a break down twice.
Rakhimova finished well though, winning the last five games in a row and sealing a 6-3, 6-3 victory.
The Russian, who was a semifinalist at the Paris Challenger last week, was a semifinalist in Bogota last month. She is 18-15 across levels this season and that includes a run to an ITF title on hard court earlier this year. On clay, Rakhimova is 9-7 across levels this season and would like to keep the momentum going in the second round.

Having played more and accumulated more wins on clay this season, Rakhimova will be a touch more confident than Parks going into this match. The fourth seeded American is tough competitor but Rakhimova holds slight edge in this contest.
