Our 2023 WTA Libema Open Predictions & Picks

Last year, Ekaterina Alexandrova played supremely throughout the week, beating the likes of Kalinina, Kudermetova, and Aryna Sabalenka to win her first title on grass.

Can the Russian repeat the trick? You wouldn’t put it past her and it will be interesting to see which half of the draw she will be in. Can she avoid fellow Russians Kudermetova or Samsonova up until the final?

Talking of Kudermetova and Samsnova, the surface plays to their liking. Kudermetova has fallen at the semifinal stage twice in Rosmalen, while Samsonova is looking to exorcise her demons from last year’s shock exit at the hands of Ann Li.

Samsonova famously won the Berlin title two years ago as a qualifier – chief among her wins that week include Kudermetova, Bencic, and Azarenka – so she’ll be buoyant if she draws any of those names later during the week.

Belinda Bencic is lacking match sharpness having returned from injury at the French Open. Bencic suffered an early exit in Paris against Elina Avanesyan, so it will be best to avoid her until a few matches.

  • Outright Winner Tip: Liudmila Sasmonova
  • Outright Winner Dark Horse Tip: Ekaterina Alexandrova
