Marino Struggling to Win Consistently

Rebecca Marino comes to Nottingham in poor form. She has featured in 14 main draw matches this year, but has lost 10 of them.

The four first round wins came in Auckland, Monterrey, Miami and Madrid.

The 32-year-old Canadian has an overall season record of 10-12 across levels, which is way below of what she achieved last year. In 2022, she had a 49-24 season record, but most of those victories came in ITF level.

Marino has not won consecutive main draw matches this year and therefore runs to the second round on four occasions remains the highlight of the season for her so far.

Dart Was a Quarterfinalist Last Year

World no. 143 Harriet Dart entered the main draw with back-to-back dominant wins in the qualifying rounds.

Dart rolled past Maddison Inglis 6-3, 6-4 in the first qualifying round and then handed compatriot Eden Silva a 6-0, 6-4 shellacking in the second qualifying round on Sunday to claim a spot in the main draw of the Nottingham Open for the fourth time.

Dart had won one and lost one in 2019 and 2021, but went on to reach the quarterfinals in 2022. But the 26-year-old was stopped from further progress by Alison Riske.

Dart also played in the ITF Surbiton, but lost in round 2 of the tournament. So overall she is 1-3 on grass this season. It’s a surface on which the former top 100 player has played a lot of tennis and has succeeded in going deep a few times.

In addition to a quarterfinal finish in Nottingham last year, Dart was also a quarterfinalist in Eastbourne in 2023.

Marino v Dart Prediction and Tip

On grass, Dart has more experience and she also did well in Nottingham the last time she was here. She has already played four matches on the surface this year while Marino will be playing her first. Although the Canadian is higher ranked player, she may find things difficult.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Dart to win: 1/1
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 22.5 games in the match: 5/6
