World no. 21 Magda Linette will be making her fifth Nottingham Open appearance. The Polish player is the third seed and was in fine form in the earlier part of the season but lost momentum during the clay season.
A two-time champion from five tour-level finals, Linette reached her maiden Grand Slam semifinal at the Australian Open this year. She also had a 3-1 record at the United Cup and was a quarterfinalist in Merida.
Thanks to those performances Linette reached a career-high ranking of no. 19 in March. She was 12-7 on hard courts, but a 4-5 run on clay has pulled her back a bit.
The 31-year-old may not have achieved a lot on grass at the tour level, but she has played two grass court finals at the ITF level, winning the title in Manchester in 2019 and finishing runner-up in Ilkley in 2015.

Australia’s Olivia Gadecki lost the first set in her second qualifying round match against compatriot Arina Rodionova, but she bounced back to beat the world no. 238, 2-6, 7-6, 6-3.
On Saturday, Gadecki had beaten another Australian, Lizette Cabrera 7-5, 6-3 to move into the main draw in Nottingham, where she will be making her debut.
Ranked no,. 136th in the world, Gadecki recently won the Montemor-O-Novo ITF. It was her fifth ITF final of the season, but a first triumph. She had lost all four of the previous finals.
Gadecki 7-3 on grass across levels in 2023. So she is a good player on grass but she is yet to win a tour level main draw match on the surface.
