Fourth seed Alex de Minaur will begin his grass court campaign on Wednesday after the world no. 18 received a first round bye in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

De Minaur is an excellent player on grass and has won one of his seven titles on grass. That title came in Eastbourne in 2021 and remains his only grass court final so far. Additionally he has also g=features in two Challenger finals on grass, winning the title in Nottingham in 2018 after finishing runner-up in Surbiton the same year.

Last year, the Australian reached the fourth round at Wimbledon for the first time and was also a semifinalist in Eastbourne during a 7-4 run on the surface.

This year, the 24-year-old brings a 16-11 season record to ‘s-Hertogenbosch, where he was a quarterfinalist in 2019 and had made it to the round of 16 last year.

Among some of his highlights this year, he won the title in Acaulco and made it to the fourth round in his home slam.

Djere Breezes Past Berankis

Laslo Djere stormed into the second round with a straight sets drubbing of qualifier Ricardas Berankis on Tuesday.

The Serb, ranked no. 60 in the world, improved his season record to 16-13 at the tour level and 19-14 overall with the victory in the first round.

Djere, who saved the only break point that he faced in the contest, broke the Lithuanian in the very first game of the match. That was the only break he had in the first set.

In the second he started with a double break, racing to a 4-0 lead before closing out the match 6-4, 6-2 in an hour and 20 minutes.

Djere doesn’t have a great record on grass and Tuesday’s win was just his fourth career win on the surface from 13 tour level matches and 14, including a qualiifer.

He faces an uphill task against the Aussie. Can he pull off a surprise?
