Thompson Rallies Past Mannarino

2019 finalist, Jordan Thompson is a win away from reaching a second final in ‘s-Hertogenbosch after the Aussie rallied from a set down to beat Adrain Mannarino in the quarterfinal on Friday.

Thompson threw away a 0-2 lead in the first set as Mannarino broke twice to take a one-set-to-love lead.

In the second set, Thompson clawed his way back, by winning the tiebreak, and then he raced to win in the final set for a 5-7, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 victory.

The Australian had begun his campaign with a 6-4, 7-6 win over Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the first round. He then knocked out the returning Milos Raonic 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 in the second round.

The Australian had come into the tournament with a poor 3-9 record at the tour level, but the three wins has improved those numbers to 6-9 on the tour and 25-14 across levels, which includes two Challenger titles and a run to the semifinal in Surbiton last week.
