Musetti Reached Stuttgart Quarter-Final

Grass is not a surface on which Musetti was brought up, and he has struggled on it in the past, exiting Wimbledon at the first round stage in both the previous two years.

However, as Matteo Berrettini has proved in the past, there is no impediment to Italian players doing well on the surface, particularly at the Queen’s Club.

Ironically, it was Berrettini who he beat last October in Naples, for his second ATP senior tournament win.

Musetti had a good European clay court season, reaching the quarter-finals in Barcelona and the last 16 in Rome.

He then went on to reach the fourth round at the French Open, his best Grand Slam result to date, eventually losing to Carlos Alcaraz.

His first grass court event of the year in Stuttgart ended at the quarter-final stage, beaten in three sets by the American Frances Tiafoe.

British Wildcard Choinski

Even keen British tennis fans may not be too familiar with the name Choinski.

He was actually German born of Polish descent, but switched his tennis allegiance at the end of 2018.

Four years earlier, he had reached the semi-finals of the boys’ singles at the US Open.

However, after years of struggling in the lower reaches of the tennis rankings, he has made great strides in the past year, reaching his second Challenger final last October in Brazil, as a qualifier.

He was also the beaten finalist in a Challenger doubles final in January this year.

Although he has no known form on grass, that has been enough for the tournament organisers to grant him a wildcard.

Musetti v Choinski Prediction and Tip

Although Musetti is not known as a grass court player, he should be too strong for the British wildcard making his senior tour debut, and for whom just playing in such a match will be an experience in itself.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Musetti to win: 2/7
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Under 21.5 games in the match: 5/6
