Frech Playing Well

Magdalena Frech was able to produce some really good efforts this year and her 21-17 record certainly proves that. Generally, a solid player though not amazing Frech seems to have found a new level this year with some pretty consistent good showings.

She won’t win every match but fur to the most she will produce a solid effort which makes her a tricky opponent to beat on all surfaces. She’s played a few matches on grass already and has a 4-1 record on it this ear. For her career, Frech is 34-19 which is a really good one.

Nottingham last week was a good experience for her. Two wins and a spot in the quarter-final though not enough to beat a very inspired Jodie Anna Burrage who made it to the final. The qualifiers here saw her take down two solid opponents though both matches were in three sets.

That tidbit might be something to keep an eye on because she might be a little fatigued even if grass tennis isn’t so demanding.

Strycova Attempting Return

Barbora Strycova is back to tennis but the veteran isn’t having a really great time. She was a great player at her peak but by now age has caught up to her and she can’t really stay with all the younger players. Even so, she’s trying her best and at times it does look really good.

So far, the Czech player managed only 3 matches and all were on clay. Two were losses but she beat Maryna Zanevska in Rome which is a really good win considering the Belgian is a good player and plays her best tennis on clay.

So despite all, Strycova is not a player you should really discount, especially not on grass. She has a 61-35 career record on the surface so expect the veteran to pull out some tricks here. I can see her making this match interesting but winning.

That’s a tough one. Maybe push the match into 3 sets but I think Frech is simply younger and better and she doesn’t mind playing on grass.

Frech v Strycova Prediction and Tip

Even if Strycova has been really good on grass I simply can’t see her winning this one. Frech looks too solid now

Tips:

  • Moderate Risk Tip: Frech to win 2-0: 5/6
