Barbora Krejcikova v Tereza Martincova Head to Head

It’s 2-2 between the two. While Martincova won in lower level tournaments in 2016, Krejcikova won in Ostrava in 2020 and in the Prague Open final in 2021.

Krejcikova Ousts Bucșa

World no. 12 Barbora Krejcikova made a solid start to her grass season, defeating Spain’s Cristina Bucșa in straight sets on Wednesday.

Playing for the first time since her shock first round defeat to Lesia Tsurenko at the French Open, Krejcikova needed just an hour and 22 minutes for a 6-3, 6-3 victory.

Krejcikova won 77% points on her first serve, saved 2 of 4 break points and converted 5 of 8 to beat the Spanish qualifier.

The 27-year-old Czech has played very little on grass courts and a 6-3 tour level record on grass is a proof of that. This is just the fourth time that she is playing in the main draw of a grass court tournament.

Krejcikova had made it to the fourth round at Wimbledon on her debut in 2021 and reached the third round last year. She lost her opening match in Eastbourne last year.

This season, Krejcikova is 21-11. She captured her sixth singles title in Dubai earlier this year, but has not reached the quarterfinals in any of the other tournaments, falling in the round of 16 seven times. Can she reach a second quarterfinal of the season with a win on Thursday?

Martincova Cruises Past Tomova

World no. 122 Tereza Martincova advanced to the round of 16 with a straightforward victory over lucky loser Viktoriya Tomova in the first round.

Broken once in each set by the world no. 80, Martincova converted 3 of 10 break points in the first set and 3 of 5 in the second to register a 6-1, 6-3 victory.

Martincova had made it to the main draw with consecutive straight set wins in the qualifying rounds.

The 28-year-old Czech defeated France’s Jessika Ponchet 7-6, 6-3 in the first qualifying round and then she defeated Dayana Yastremska 6-3, 7-6 in the second qualifying round to make it to the main draw in Birmingham for the third time.

Martincova will now be aiming to reach her second quarterfinal in Birmingham. She had made it to the last eight stage on her debut in 2021, but lost in the opening round last year.

It has been a tough year for Martincova, and the win over Tomova was just her second at the tour level.

Overall the 28-year-old improved to 16-16 across levels.

Krejcikova v Martincova Prediction and Tip

Martincova has more experience on grass than Krejcikova, but the latter is in far better form this season. Expect a close match with Krejcikova coming out on top and reaching her first quarterfinal on grass.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Krejcikova to win: 1/4
