Caroline Garcia v Madison Brengle Head to Head

There have been five previous meeting between these two including once in the qualifiers of the 2012 Australian Open and Garcia leads 4-1. Their only match on grass came in 2017 at Wimbledon and Garcia had won that one too.

Garcia Coming off Berlin Quarterfinal

Having played some of the best tennis of her career last season, Garcia had also won a grass court title in 2022 and it had come in Bad Homburg. This time around, however, Garcia has opted not to play there and instead, she has decided to feature in Eastbourne.

Garcia enters this competition on the back of a quarterfinal appearance at the Berlin Open.

The world number five had won successive rounds against Sabine Lisicki and Jaimee Fourlis in Berlin before going down to the former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova in the last eight stage.

She will now hope she can turn things around after that steady start last week, especially knowing that she has to defend 280 points coming into this. A distant run here could help her garner enough points to keep her in the top five or even break back into the top four if some of the results go her way.

Brengle Makes it Through to the Main Draw for a Change

Since making it to the second round at the Charleson Open in the early part of April, Brengle hasn’t won a single main draw match at the highest level.

Opening round losses at the French Open and Nottingham Open – along with another opening defeat on the ITF circuit – have been followed by Brengle’s inability to win a round in the qualifiers of the Birmingham Open.

This time around in Eastbourne, Brengle would be glad to have at least made it through to the main draw. She needed three sets and two tie-breakers to overcome Caroline Dolehide in the first qualifier before overcoming Barbora Strycova in the second.

But now, up against a player of Garcia’s pedigree, things could get very difficult for the American.

Garcia v Brengle Prediction and Tip

Garcia can be expected to win this in straight sets with Brengle not expected to offer too much fight.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Garcia to win in straight sets: 4/7
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Under 19.5 games in the match: 5/6
