Sorana Cirstea v Ana Bogdan Head to Head
Ana Bogdan leads Sorana Cirstea 2-1 in their head-to-head. But these two Romanian played each other just recently in Birmingham this past week. Cirstea won in three sets.

Sorana Cirstea has been a rejuvenated player in 2023, compiling 21-13 record and scoring three top-10 wins, establishing herself as one of the most improved players this season.
Two of those top-10 wins came in Miami, where Cirstea advanced into the WTA 1000 final for the first time in a decade. Even though she lost the championship match to the in-form Petra Kvitova, the Romanian cut her ranking by half – from 83rd to 41 by the end of the tournament.
Cirstea’s resurgence continued on clay, racking up the WTA 125K title in Reus, Spain to re-enter to the top 40.
But three successive defeats on clay in May halted her momentum and pretty ended her hopes of securing a seeding spot for this year’s Wimbledon Championships.
Cirstea is currently ranked 36th in the rankings, four spots shy of a seeding spot. And actual seeds at Wimbledon will be based on WTA rankings as of the 26th June.

Bogdan Beats Martic to Qualify
Ana Bogdan secured her second straight main draw on grass, qualifying successfully on Sunday. The Romanian defeated Petra Martic 5-7 6-4 6-4.
She backed up her win over Panna Udvardy 6-4 6-4 in the first round of qualifying. Bogdan took two and a half hours to take down Martic in a tight match.
The two players traded two breaks in the eighth and ninth games of the first set. But Martic upped the ante towards the end by breaking Bogdan for a 7-5 first-set advantage.
But that was as good as it got for the Croat who was broken three times in the next two sets. Bogdan won 84% first-serve points in the second set and did not face a single break point, wrapping it up in 49 minutes.
Bogdan persisted in putting Martic’s serve under constant pressure, breaking her deep in the third for a 5-4 lead. And served for the match, coolly converting her second match point.
Cirstea v Bogdan Prediction and Tip
This is a rematch from their first-round clash in Birmingham a week ago. Bogdan appears to have found some rhythm in her game and could well be on her way to troubling her higher-ranked compatriot.
