Stefanos Tsitsipas v Mackenzie McDonald Head to Head

The two have never met before. This will be the first match between the world number ten, and the American ranked fifty places below him.

Tsitsipas Looks to Bounce Back after Indian Wells

Tsitsipas had enjoyed a very good start to the year, before he got to Indian Wells. A semi-finalist in Melbourne, he won his second senior ATP title in Marseille, and then was a beaten finalist in Dubai.

Those performances helped him break into the world’s top ten for the first time, which made his performance in Indian Wells all the more disappointing, beaten by Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime in the second round.

However, there have been talks of the amount of tennis that Tsitsipas has already played in the season and how it looks to have played a part in his recent results. He is one of those few top players to have already featured in eight competitions including the Hopman and to give a perspective, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic have played in four, and contemporaries like Dominic Thiem and Karen Khachanov have featured in six and seven respectively.

He will be looking to make amends in Miami.

Lucky Loser McDonald Looking to Extend Fortune

McDonald is only taking part in the main Miami draw due to good fortune. Beaten in the qualifying tournament, he was then invited to take the place of South Korea’s Chung Hyeon, who was forced to withdraw because of injury.

Having then got his chance, he beat Ugo Humbert of France in the first round on Friday, although it was a desparately close match, and needed a third set tie-break to divide the two.

The world number 60 spends his time alternating between the Senior and Challenger circuits, with his best result this year coming in Delray Beach where he reached the semi-final. He was also a beaten finalist at the Challenger event in Dallas

Tsitsipas v McDonald Predictions & Tips

Tsitsipas will start  as heavy odds-on favourite for the match at 1/3, whilst McDonald is priced at 14/5. It is hard to imagine the American pulling off a surprise here. Rather, Tsitsipas can be backed as likely to go far in Miami, making up for his disappointment in Indian Wells.

Tip: Tsitsipas to win in straight sets: 10/11 (Betfair)
