Germany’s Tarama Korpatsch started at SW19 as a qualifier. After beating Mai Hontama and Carole Monnet in the opening rounds, she fell in the last qualifying match to Mirra Andreeva.

However, she got a ticket to the main draw as a lucky loser.

From that point on, she made the most of this new chance and dispatched Carol Zhao 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 in an hour and 47 minutes. With this, the 28-year-old has posted her best performance in a Grand Slam.

Now ranked World No. 122, Korpatsch is now 10-16 for the season – in a strong contrast to her previous year, where she closed with 47 wins and 28 defeats. 2023 has been rocky for Tamara, to say the least, but she has gained some valuable experience.

Her season-best result came in Valencia 125, where she was a semifinalist. It is worth noting that she went through a nine-match losing streak too.

Natalija Kostic, who also started as a qualifier in London, delivered one of the biggest wins of her career in her opening match. Playing Karolina Pliskova – 2021 Wimbledon runner-up -, the Serbian won the match 6-2, 6-3 without any difficulties.

In the prelims, Stevanovic went through without dropping a set as she moved past Valentini Grammatikopoulou, Elizabeth Mandlik, and Marina Bassols Ribera.

With this, the 28-year-old has also recorded her best Slam results. All her previous attempts ended in the qualifiers itself; in Paris and Melbourne this season, she was beaten in Q1 itself.

Natalija is World No. 225 and has spent the most of 2023 season on ITF Tour. Her best result there came in Bellinzona, where she was a semifinalist.

Korpatsch v Stevanovic Prediction and Tip

Tips:

  • Low-Risk Tip: Over 8.5 games in the first set: 4/11
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 10/11
