World no. 20 Victoria Azarenka stormed into the fourth round with a straight sets drubbing of world no. 10 Daria Kasatkina on Friday.

Azarenka was broken in the third game of the match but she bounced back by breaking her opponent thrice and winning five games in a row to seal the first set.

In the second, the Belarusian went up a break in the in the fourth game, the 11th seed pulled the break back immediately in the next game, but a second break late in the set clinched the one hour and 17 minute contest 6-2, 6-4.

A two-time Australian Open champion and a three-time US Open finalist, Azarenka’s best at Wimbledon were semifinal finishes in 2011 and 2012. She was also a quarterfinalist in 2009 and 2015. Can she reach her fourth quarterfinal on Sunday?

A semifinalist in the first major of the season in Melbourne, Azarenka has been inconsistent since then. But the former world no. 1 has got into good rhythm at Wimbledon. She began her campaign with a tough three-set win over China’s Yue Yuan, but has looked in control since then, beating Nadia Podoroska 6-3, 6-0 in round 2 and handing Kasatkina a straight sets drubbing in round three.

Elina Svitolina’s incredible return from maternity break continued as the Ukrainian picked up a solid win over Sofia Kenin on Friday to reach the fourth round at Wimbledon for the third time.

Playing in the tournament for a ninth time, Svitolina was a semifinalist in 2019. She had also made it to the round of 16 in 2017.

Currently ranked no. 76th in the world, Svitolina has seen a stunning rise since her return in April, as she was ranked no. 1,344 on April 10.

Svitolina won the Strassbourg open to win her 17th title and also reached the quarterfinals at the French Open before making a solid start at Wimbledon.

The 28-year-old defeated Venus Williams 6-4, 6-3 in the first round and then won a roller coaster against Elise Mertens, beating the Belgian 6-1, 1-6, 6-1 in round 2.

Against Kenin, Svitolina came back from a break down to win the first set in the tiebreak and then dominated the second to score a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 victory.
