Tsitsipas Takes Down Djere

After battling past two Grand Slam champions in the first two rounds, it was a relatively easier third round contest for the fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, who knocked out world no. 60 Laslo Djere in straight sets.

Tsitsipas, who is making a sixth appearance at Wimbledon, is into the fourth round for the second time in his career.

The Greek needed just two hours and six minutes to beat the Serb 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. He was broken just once by Djere, while he converted 3 of 4 break points to advance.

Tsitsipas had won both his first two matches in five sets, beating Dominic Thiem 3-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (10-8) in the first round and Andy Murray 7-6 (7-3), 6-7 (2-7), 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 in round two.

While he won the first match in three hours and 57 minutes, the win over Murray took him four hours and 43 minutes.

He would be happy to have knocked out Djere much sooner. The third round win improved the Greek to 36-13 across levels this season and 35-12 at the tour level.

A nine-time champion at the tour level, Tsitsipas played in two finals this year, finishing runner-up at the Australian Open and the Barcelona Open.

Eubanks Extends Win Streak to Eight Matches

Christopher Eubanks’ fantastic run at Wimbledon continued as the American marched into the fourth round with a straight sets win over Australia’s Christopher O’Connell.

The 27-year-old American is in top form at the moment and the win in the third round extended his current win streak to eight matches. He won his first ever ATP title in Mallorca just before the start of Wimbledon.

Currently sitting on a career-high ranking of no. 43, Eubanks is making his debut at Wimbledon this year and has been extremely impressive over the first three rounds.

Eubanks struck 23 aces and 65 winners against O’Connell to power past the world no. 73, 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-2). Eubanks won 87% points on his first serve and while both players broke each other just once in the match, it was Eubanks who held nerves in all three tiebreaks to knockout the Aussie.

Eubanks had served 28 aces to beat Thiago Monteiro in four sets in the first round and he served 21 aces to upset 12th seed Cameron Norrie 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) in the second round.

Can the American keep his winning streak going in the fourth round?

Tsitsipas v Eubanks Prediction and Tip

Given Eubanks’ form it will be a tough match for Tsitsipas, but the world no. 5 is far too experienced and also one of the most consistent performers in world tennis today. He’s also looked good in the first three matches, so expect Tsitsipas to reach his maiden Wimbledon quarterfinal.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Tsitsipas to win: 1/3
