They have faced off four times in the past and both have won two matches apiece. Their last meeting came in the final of the 2022 Wimbledon and Rybakina had come back from a set down to overcome Jabeur.

Rybakina Benefits from Haddad Maia Injury

In a fourth round match that lasted a mere 21 minutes, Rybakina was up 4-1 against Beatriz Haddad Maia when her opponent retired from the encounter.

Rybakina, who had surprised the world with her title win last year at Wimbledon, hadn’t started off this grass season well when she lost to Donna Vekic in the second round of the Berlin Open. And when she lost the opening set of her first round encounter against Shelby Rogers, it looked like Rybakina wasn’t looking like her own self.

Things have turned around for the world number three for now.

She came through in that opener by winning the next two sets 6-1, 6-2 against Rogers and then sent Alize Cornet packing 6-2, 7-6 (2) in the second round.

It was in the third round that Rybakina finally came into her own, routing the local player Katie Boulter 6-1, 6-1 before spending these 21 minutes in this fourth round match. Can she now make it to Thursday’s semifinal?

Jabeur Routs Kvitova

It’s sage to say that Jabeur of the old is back.

Having lost some of her rhythm because of her fitness concerns, Jabeur wasn’t quite a pre-tournament favourite coming into the 2023 Wimbledon but she has done well so far to reach this year.

Especially in the quarterfinal against Petra Kvitova in which she needed a mere 64 minutes to win 6-0, 6-3. While Jabeur was broken once in the second set, that came in the sixth game when she was serving for a 5-1 lead.

That didn’t change the nature of the contest with Jabeur running away with the encounter after having needed three sets to get the better of Bianca Andreescu in the previous round.

The question now is if the previous year’s Wimbledon runner-up has it in her to challenge the previous winner at Wimbledon. Could get quite close, especially given how well Jabeur done all tournament.

Rybakina v Jabeur Prediction and Tip

Rybakina holds the slight edge but we believe this could go to a third set.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Rybakina to win: 8/13
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 22.5 games in the match: 5/6
