2022 Finalist Bronzetti

Bronzetti reached her first WTA final in this event last year, before losing to the Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu in straight sets.

However, undeterred, she has reached two more finals already this season, winning on the clay of Morocco, and once again settling for the runners-up cheque on the grass of Bad Homburg.

That technically included a victory over the world number one, Iga Świątek, although, in reality it was a walkover, as the Pole pulled out of their semi-final match as an injury precaution.

That may have led her to hope that she was in for a good run at Wimbledon, but those hopes were soon dashed as she was beaten in the first round in straight sets, losing to another Romanian, Jaqueline Cristian, the world number 133.

Andreeva Has Lessons to Learn After Wimbledon

Still just 16, Andreeva has already made her mark this season, reaching the third round of the French Open on her Grand Slam debut, and then doing even better at Wimbledon.

There she beat a series of higher ranked opponents, including the world number 11, Barbora Krejcikova, reaching the fourth round in the process.

However, in her match with Madison Keys she then showed her immaturity by being docked a point for throwing her racquet, and refusing to shake the umpire’s hand at the end.

She needs to learn how to cope with adversity, as she will face plenty on the WTA tour. But having already won two ITF titles this season, she is very much tipped as a future star.

Bronzetti v Andreeva Prediction and Tip

Andreeva has already proved this year that she is no respecter of reputations so Bronzetti needs to treat her challenge with respect. But she did reach the final in Palermo last year, and she has the benefit of home advantage as well.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Bronzetti to win: 7/11
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 7/8
