Matteo Arnaladi might have lost in the first round of Wimbledon but the Italian has been quite dominant on clay this year. Just before taking off to London, the Italian won the Heilbronn Challenger beating Pedro Martinez in the final in two sets.
It’s been a very solid year for Arnaldi who has a 32-16 record so far, enough to finally break into the top 100. Most of those wins have been on clay where he has a 19-5 record which is pretty strong.
He likes to play aggressively which generally suits him very much but that type of play can get you in trouble when you face an equally competent hitter like Ruusuuvori. The Finnish player has been rather strong as well but much like Arnaldi, he’s streaky.
It’s going to come down to who plays better from the baseline because don’t expect too much variety in this one. Arnaldi likely plays better on clay but when it comes to power and shot-making he’s behind his opponent. He will need a really strong effort to win.

Emil Ruusuvuori might just be the streakiest tennis player on Tour and that’s saying a lot because there are many. his best is absolutely incredibly capable of hitting anybody off the court. His worst is quite frankly terrible not even worthy of a top 200 or top 300.
The problem is that we never know which Emil will show up because either can. Sometimes we even see both in a match and it makes it a nightmare to predict him. The matchup against Arnaldi is fine on paper. They will trade blows until someone misses but he’s far less consistent than Arnaldi.
On the flip side, Ruusuuvori is far better when it comes to hitting so his best could easily smash his opponent. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens but his form recently hasn’t been good. He lost the last four matches he plays so he needs a win.
So far he has 21 in 40 matches which shows how up and down he is. Clay is not his favoured surface so keep that in mind.
Arnaldi v Ruusuvuori Prediction and Tip
This is very tough to predict because it could go either way. I do think we might see three sets because of the way both play and that might be my advice. I do have a sneaky suspicion that Ruusuvuori wins in the end but I wouldn’t recommend it.
