Felix Auger-Aliassime v Nikoloz Basilashvili Head to Head

The two have never met before. This will be the first meeting between the teenage Canadian and the 27-year old Georgian.

The Dream Continues for Auger-Aliassime

Auger-Aliassime has had a few months that will have exceeded his wildest dreams.

In February, he became the youngest man ever to play in an ATP final in Rio, before losing to Laslo Dere, and broke into the top 100 for the first time. He followed that up at Indian Wells, by managing his first ever win over a top-ten player, beating Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets in their second round match.

And he has continued that form into Miami, battling past Casper Ruud of Norway and then Marton Fucsovics of Hungary, before beating the rapidly improving Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets.

He is playing with confidence and flair, and is unlikely to feel any nerves about appearing in his first Masters fourth round tie.

Basilashvili, Playing at Career High World Ranking

Basilashvili is playing at a career high ranking of 19, reflecting the past 12 months which has seen him become the first Georgian player to win a senior ATP career title in Hamburg last July, which he duly followed up by victory in the China Open in October.

He does not have great record in Masters events, but has a chance to put that right this week, as the draw opens up for him with the disappearance of so many seeds. He has enjoyed relatively serene progress in the tournament to this stage, beating Mischa Zverev – older brother of Alexander – in the second round, and the Dutch veteran Robin Haase in the third.

With just the Canadian teenager to beat, the quarter-finals beckon but many an opponent have fallen by the wayside underestimating an upcoming youngster.

Auger-Aliassime v Basilashvili Predictions & Tips

This match is a very close one to call, at least as far as the bookmakers are concerned. They make Auger-Aliassime slight favourite at 13/15 whilst his opponent is priced at 21/20. Both have a good chance so it will be down to their relative performance on the day.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 5/4 (Betway)
