Baindl defeated Hungary’s Fanny Stollár. 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 in the quarterfinal and then edged out Claire Liu 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) in the semifinal to advance to the her second career final.

In a two hour and 35 minute battle against Liu, Baindl saved three set points in the ninth game of the first set, before clinching it 7-5. The second set was also a hard fought one with Baindl taking it in the tiebreak. In all, Baindl saved 3 of 8 break points and converted 6 of 13 to advance.

Baindl’s only other final appearance came in 2018 at the Taiwan Open, where she finished runner-up to Timea Babos.

She continued her impressive run in the quarterfinals, as she came back from a set down to beat Kaja Juvan 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 and then on Saturday, she won another three-set contest, ousting former French Open semifinalist Nadia Podoroska in three hours and 14 minutes.

Baindl v Timofeeva Prediction and Tip

Baindl will be wary of Timofeeva, who has come from nowhere to make the finals. However, the Ukrainian has played a lot more than the Russian at the highest level and she will be banking on her experience in the final. Expect Timofeeva to put up a fight, but Baindl is most likely to win the contest.

Tips:
