About a year ago Eubanks was ranked 163rd in the world and struggling to climb up the rankings charts. He did end the season at 123rd but it meant he still had make it through the qualifiers at various smaller events to make the main draw.
Fast-forward six months and Eubanks is looking at a realistic possibility of going into the last Grand Slam of the season as a seeded player.
He has risen up to 31st in the world, his career-best ranking, and that has been down to his performances on hardcourt surfaces and grass. At the Miami Masters he first showed what he is capable of by making it to the quarterfinals as a qualifier.
And more recently on grass, Eubanks not only won the Mallorca Open title, he also shocked Cameron Norrie and Stefanos Tsitsipas on his way to the quarterfinals at Wimbledon.
All of that have meant he enters this tournament on the back of his best ranking and will now look to improve on that performance as he faces a wildcard entrant in this opener.

Martin in Very Early Days of His Career
Martin first played on the circuit in 2021, making his doubles debut at this very tournament. Last year, Martin featured in his first ever main draw match on the singles circuit at the Atlanta Open, again getting a wildcard to do so.
In what turned out to be a shock win, Martin overcame Thanasi Kokkinakis in the first round of that tournament to register his maiden main draw win at the highest level.
This year, the 22-year-old Martin hasn’t played too much tennis with two Challenger tournaments and a couple of Futures events under his belt. And he hasn’t done too well either but he does enter this tournament yet again as a wildcard entrant.
Martin might not have it easy against Eubanks – an in-form one at that – but he sure will like to take the memories from his previous performance here to try and make things difficult for his opponent.
