Jil Teichmann v Erika Andreeva Head to Head

Their only previous meeting came on the ITF circuit earlier this year and Teichmann won that in straight sets.

Teichmann Forced to Play at the Lower Levels

Once ranked 21st in the world, Teichmann has been forced to feature on the ITF circuit and in WTA 125 tournaments because of her poor performances that have led to the fall in her rankings.

She has hit a rather lowly 124th on the WTA circuit and as a result of that, not had a lot of opportunities to feature at the top level.

Like last week, Teichmann was a part of the Iasi WTA 125 competition in which she made the quarterfinal before losing to Irina Camelia Begu. Before that, the Swiss player had entered round two at Wimbledon and a quarterfinal at Reus but these performances have been few and far between on clay.

What Teichmann needs is a good, solid run which helps her in breaking back into the top 100 and helping her gain some more traction as a result.

Can she overcome her 19-year-old opponent here?

Andreeva Hoping to Better Her Clay Showing

After having done extremely well on clay in the lower circuits, Andreeva’s performances at the WTA level this year have left to some desire. She has lost more than she has won and if one looks at the main draw matches at the highest level alone, Andreeva has just one win on clay in 2023.

That came at Palermo last week where Andreeva overccame Lucia Bronzetti in a comeback from behind, three-set win despite starting out as a 13/10 underdog in the encounter.

In the second round there, she looked to have fought well in the opening set against Camila Osorio but once her Colombian opponent found her way, there was no looking back.

Andreeva now has a good chance here to win her second main draw match and that’s to do with her opponent’s struggles in recent times. Given the 19-year-old’s obvious fighting qualities, she could hold a bit of an edge here too.

Teichmann v Andreeva Prediction and Tip

While Teichmann starts a favourite at 9/20, we think those odds don’t represent her opponent’s true value and we wouldn’t mind going with an Andreeva win here.

Tips:

  • High Risk Tip: Andreeva to win: 17/10
