Victoria Azarenka v Magda Linette Head to Head

Victoria Azarenka leads Magda Linette 2-1 in their headh-to-head, with all three meetings between them contested on hard courts.

Linette, however, won the pair’s clash at the 2023 Miami Open this season in three sets.

Back-To-Back Defeats for Azarenka to Svitolina

Victoria Azarenka’s purple against Elina Svitolina appears to be over. The Belarusian led 5-0 in the head-to-head and had only dropped two sets in the series.

But as of this season, Svitolina has won both of their meetings, at Wimbledon where she prevailed in a dramatic third-set tiebreak, and more recently in Washington in straight sets.

Now that the Ukrainian has developed into a real kryptonite for Azarenka is a story for another day. Azarenka will look to bounce back in Canada.

Last year she didn’t play in this event but still went on to make the second week of the US Open.

The second half of the season is highly important for Azarenka if she is to retain her place in the world’s top 20.

With many points to defend at the US Open and Guadalajara, the week in Canada could present her with a window of opportunity to garner some much-needed bonus points.

Azarenka is 17-14 for the season, with her best result thus far being her semifinal run at this year’s Australian Open.

Linette Playing For the First Time In A Month

Magda Linette’s last outing was a month ago where she lost in the third round of Wimbledon to Belinda BEncic in straight sets.

Like Azarenka, Linette’s best result this season came at this year’s Australian Open where she reached her maiden Grand Slam semifinal.

The Pole shocked a host of top stars including Caroline Garcia and Karolina Pliskova before her campaign ended at the hands of eventual champion Sabalenka.

Since stepping out of Australia, Linette has registered rather modest results. There was a quarterfinal run in Merida 250 and a round of 16 finish in Miami (where she defeated Azarenka).

But outside of those two events, she was pedestrian until this summer when she won back-to-back matches for the first time in months at Wimbledon.

In her five trips to Canada, Linette has yet to win a main draw match.

Azarenka v Linette Prediction and Tip

Linette is playing for the first time in a while here, and while Azarenka tasted defeat in her last match in Washington, she steadily found her rhythm as the match wore on. Expecting the Belarusian to bounce back here.
