Iga Swiatek v Danielle Collins Head to Head

Swiatek leads Collins 2-1 with all three matches having come in hardcourt competitions. The world number one won at 2021 Adelaide and 2023 Doha while Collins clinched her victory at the 2022 Australian Open.

Swiatek Taken to Three Sets by Muchova

Having won the Poland Open just a couple of weeks before this tournament, Swiatek had registered her sixth successive straight-set win when she usurped Karolina Pliskova in the second round here.

In the third round, however, Swiatek finally dropped her first set in seven matches when Karolina Muchova forced a decider in their encounter.

Swiatek came through in the end but not before she was on court for two hours and 52 minutes and lost her serve three times in the match. She clinched her last eight berth 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.

This win was her 23rd for the season in hardcourt competitions which includes title wins in Doha and Warsaw so far. At the Australian Open, Indian Wells Open and the Miami Open, however, Swiatek had done well without actually going to add to her titles kitty.

She will hope to turn that around here.

Collins Eases Past Fernandez

For only the second time this season, Collins had managed to win three successive matches in the same tournament as she steamrolled Leylah Fernandez in her third round.

Collins, who was forced to participate in the qualifiers of the tournament to make it to the main draw, had earlier routed Elina Svitolina and Maria Sakkari to make it through the round of 16. And while Fernandez had also shown signs of resurrection in this competition, Collins did not waste a lot of time here.

In a match lasting an hour and 21 minutes, Collins coasted to a 6-2, 6-3 win over her Canadian opponent.

Such was her dominance that Collins did not face a single break-point in the entire match, losing just 10 points on her own serve. On the other hand, she earned 10 break-points and clinched three breaks of serve.

Going up against Swiatek, she will hope to continue serving in the same manner and while she will be the obvious second-favourite, Collins will give herself a fighting chance.

Swiatek v Collins Prediction and Tip

Swiatek is 1/5 to grab this win even as Collins could put up a fight here. It’s not often that Swiatek drops sets, not in successive matches for sure but we could see that happen here.
