Their one and only meeting took place in the qualifying rounds of the Wuhan Open in 2018; Siniakova won in straight sets.

Vondrousova Coming off an Alright Week

Marketa Vondrousova, now ranked World No. 10, is coming off a round-three stint in the Canadian Open. Beating Mayar Sherif and Caroline Wozniacki en route, she ultimately lost to Coco Gauff 3-6, 0-6.

2023 has been a career-defining season for the 24-year-old Czech; she now has 33 wins against 11 losses which is undoubtedly the best season stats of her career so far.

Marketa’s highlight was Wimbledon, where she won the title by beating the likes of Ons Jabeur, Elina Svitolina, Jessica Pegula, and Veronika Kudermetova. Before that, she enjoyed mid-stage appearances in other big-ticket events like the Sunshine Doubles and Rome Open.

Vondrousova, a former French Open runner-up, started the year outside the top 90 and now finds herself placed with the elites. The question is if she can keep this going.

She tested the waters in Montreal, and now, in Cincinnati, where she has never made it past round one, she looks to go a step further.

Siniakova Having a Slow Year

Compared to previous seasons where Katerina Siniakova posted 20+ singles wins in a year, this one has been pretty slow for the doubles specialist.

Her record is now 14-12, with her highlight being the Bad Homburg Open title in June. After that, she featured at SW19, Warsaw, and Montreal – losing in the opening rounds in all three.

It was a similar story for the #46-ranked Siniakova in the preceding tournaments too. The exception was the Merida Open, where she was a semifinalist.

On the doubles tour, Siniakova maintains her #1 ranking on the back of titles from the Australian Open and Indian Wells Open and runner-up silverware from Adelaide and Berlin.

Siniakova v Vondrousova Prediction and Tip

Vondrousova starts as the favourite owing to her superior form and momentum, but you can’t entirely dismiss her chances of losing early. Siniakova is capable of causing all sorts of problems – except she can’t do it consistently as a singles player. Is this the week where she finds some traction finally?

Tips:

  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 5/6
