Their only previous meeting came in the 2022 Charleston Open where Jabeur won in straight sets.

For the second season in a row, Jabeur made the final at Wimbledon. And for the second time in a row, she lost in the title-decider leading to some stunned tears.
For the record, the last time a non-Williams name enter Wimbledon finals in successive years was way back in 1997-98 when Jana Novatna reached there. Novatna would go on to win her maiden major title at Wimbledon in 1998.
Jabeur has been out of action since that defeat to Marketa Vondrousova, having missed the start of the US Open Swing including the Canadian Open last week.
As far as her record in Cincinnati goes, Jabeur has made the third round here on the previous two occasions that she was here, but she is 4-4 in hardcourt competitions this season. The Tunisian number one will hope to turn that record around.

Kalinina Eases Past Zhu
There wasn’t much to choose between Kalinina and her first round opponent Lin Zhu but it was the Ukrainian player who came through with a straight-set win in the end.
Kalinina was on court for an hour and 38 minutes to register a 6-3, 7-5 win over Zhu, shrugging off a late fightback from Zhu in the second.
Having broken Zhu once in the opening set and clinched it soon after, Kalinina then served for a 5-1 lead in the second set. Zhu broke back, saved three more break-points before levelling things out at 4-4 with another break of serve.
But just when the momentum looked to have shifted, Kalinina broke Zhu again and this time around served out the match to grab the second round place.
In doing so, Kalinina broke a three-match losing streak which had included opening round losses in Washington and Montreal.

Jabeur might be a tad rusty but she shouldn’t have a lot of trouble here, winning in straight sets against an out of form Kalinina.
