Iga Swiatek v Danielle Collins Head to Head

There have been four previous meetings between these two players and Swiatek leads 3-1. This includes a three-set win over Collins last week at the Canadian Open.

Collins’ only win over Swiatek had come at the Australian Open last year on her way to the final.

Swiatek 24-5 on Hardcourt This Season

Following her quarterfinal exit at Wimbledon, Swiatek returned to competitive tennis at her home competition in Warsaw where she eased to a title win without dropping a set. While the competition there wasn’t the strongest, she would have felt a bit of a relief lifting the trophy other than getting into some kind of a groove for the American hardcourt swing.

That helped her ease through to a straight-set win over Karolina Pliskova in the second round of the Canadian Open but life wasn’t the easiest for her in that tournament.

In fact, known for her straight-set drubbings of her opponent, Swiatek scraped through three-set wins over Karolina Muchova and Danielle Collins in the next two rounds to enter the semifinal.

And that’s where her campaign ended as Jessica Pegula carved out a 6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-4 victory.

Swiatek now returns to the Cincinnati Open where she has never gone beyond the third round. She would look to go far deeper in the competition this time around.

Collins Routs Pavlyuchenkova

In a first round match that failed to light up the stands, Collins needed an hour and 20 minutes to end Anastasia Palyuchenkova’s campaign. She won 6-3, 6-1 to proceed to the second round where Collins will face a rematch of last week’s quarterfinal encounter against the world number one.

Collins raced to a 4-0 lead in the first set but then dropped her serve twice to bring some sort of a parity in the match.

Little did Palyuchenkova know though she would add just one more game to her kitty from that point onward, as Collins broke her again in the eighth game and then served it out to take the first set.

In the second, Collins took the early grab against a struggling Palyuchenkova before adding two more of them.

This win comes on the back of a solid performance at the Canadian Open last week where Collins was forced to feature in the qualifiers before overcoming Elina Svitolina, Maria Sakkari and Leylah Fernandez to make it to the quarterfinal.

Swiatek v Collins Prediction and Tip

With a little more luck, Collins could have beaten Swiatek last week. Can she do it this time? We think this could again be a close one but Swiatek will continue to hold the edge.

Tips:

  • Moderate Risk Tip: Swiatek to win & Over 18.5 games in the match: 11/10
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 19.5 games in the match: 5/6
