World no. 7 Coco Gauff made quick work of Egypt’s Mayar Sherif in the second round of Cincinnati Open on Wednesday.
The American saved 4 of 5 break points and converted 5 of 9 to ease past the Egyptian 6-2, 6-2.
Gauff has been in good form this month. She won her second title of the season and the fourth overall in Washington and reached the quarterfinal in Montreal.
This is her best performance so far in Cincinnati as she had never gone beyond the second round in her three previous appearances.

Noskova Rallies Past Kvitova
Facing Gauff will be the 18-year-old Linda Noskova, who scored back-to-back come-from-behind wins to reach the third round in Cincinnati on her maiden appearance.
Noskova had begun her campaign by knocking out Canadian Open finalist Liudmila Samsonova 2-6, 6-3, 6-1. She followed that performance with another gritty effort in the second round, as she rallied past ninth seed Petra Kvitova for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory.
The world no. 50 saved 3 of 7 break points and capitalised on six of 16 breaking opportunities to knock out her compatriot and world no. 9 in two hours and 12 minutes.
Noskova reached her first two WTA finals this year, finishing runner-up in Adelaide in January and in Prague earlier this month.
She has been in terrific form recently and is 10-2 from her last 12 matches, which includes the two qualifying round wins in Cincinnati. Noskova had beaten Magdalena Fręch and Diane Parry in the two qualifying rounds.
